We're planning to migrate around 120 employee mailboxes from Microsoft 365 to another platform, but after reading several migration experiences on Reddit and Microsoft Community, I'm honestly a bit worried. Many users mentioned issues like permission errors, incomplete mailbox transfers, missing attachments, broken folder hierarchy, and even unexpected downtime during the migration. Since our organization depends heavily on email communication, we simply can't afford to lose important client conversations or business records.

Initially, we considered using manual methods, but they looked too complicated for handling multiple mailboxes. Managing permissions individually and verifying every migrated mailbox would take far too much time. That's when our IT consultant recommended trying the DRS Softech Office 365 Backup Tool.

What impressed me most was that it isn't limited to simple backups. It supports backing up Microsoft 365 mailboxes into formats like PST, MBOX, EML, PDF, and several others while also allowing direct migration to Gmail, IMAP, Thunderbird, iCloud, Yahoo, Zoho Mail, and more. Features like Assign Impersonation Rights, CSV upload for multiple accounts, Remove Duplicate Emails, Date Filter, and mailbox preview made the whole process much easier to manage.

We first created complete backups before starting the migration, which gave everyone confidence that no data would be lost if something unexpected happened. The software also preserved folder hierarchy, email properties, contacts, calendars, and attachments throughout the process.

For anyone who has already migrated Microsoft 365 mailboxes, what was your biggest challenge? Did you rely on Microsoft's native tools, or did you choose a dedicated migration solution to make the process safer? I'd really appreciate hearing real-world experiences before we migrate our production environment.
