I have an email archive going back more than ten years that is currently stored in MBOX format. The archive contains business emails, personal records, invoices, scanned documents, and thousands of attachments. Since I recently started using Outlook full-time, I’m looking for the safest way to convert MBOX to PST while maintaining data integrity.
My first thought was to use a manual method, but after reading several guides, it seems that the process can become complicated when the mailbox size grows. Some people reported missing folders, incomplete migrations, or attachment-related issues after conversion. Because of the age and importance of this archive, I really can't afford any data loss.
While researching, I found articles and discussions mentioning the DRS Softech MBOX Converter Tool as one possible solution. The claimed benefits sound useful, especially for large mailbox conversions, but I prefer hearing actual user experiences before deciding which route to take.
Has anyone here converted a very large MBOX archive to Outlook PST format? How long did it take, and were there any unexpected problems during the migration? I'm particularly interested in preserving folder hierarchy, sender information, read/unread status, and attachments. Any guidance from people who have successfully completed a similar migration would be very helpful.
