OneDrive can become surprisingly difficult to organize when the same files are uploaded more than once. This is especially noticeable with photos, documents, backups, and media files that may come from different devices. Before deleting anything, I’d want to know exactly which files are duplicates and make sure the original or unique versions remain untouched.

A manual cleanup seems manageable when there are only a few folders, but it becomes less realistic when the account contains hundreds or thousands of files. Searching through every folder and comparing filenames, sizes, and content would take considerable time.

That’s why I started looking at the SysInfo OneDrive Duplicate File Finder. According to the product information, it can scan folders across Personal and Business OneDrive accounts and group detected duplicates based on factors such as name, size, content, and file type. The Smart Grouping feature could make it easier to review related files instead of checking everything individually.

The storage summary is another useful part of the process because it provides account details and shows used and available space. After scanning, users can view detected files and select which duplicates should actually be removed. This seems safer than automatically deleting every file that appears similar.

For organizations using OneDrive Business, administrators may also need to handle multiple accounts. The Assign Impersonation option is designed for this type of management and can help when duplicate cleanup needs to be performed across several accounts.

I’m also wondering whether a OneDrive duplicate remover is better suited for regular storage maintenance than occasional manual cleanup. Keeping unique files unchanged is obviously the most important part.

If anyone has used a OneDrive duplicate file remover, how did you handle the final review before deletion? Did you prefer moving duplicates to the bin first, or permanently removing them after verifying the results?
