Has anyone else noticed Outlook randomly changing its appearance? Mine suddenly stopped grouping emails by date, and the reading pane disappeared completely. I spent hours trying to figure out how to reset Outlook View to Default before finding a few methods that actually worked.

The quickest fix is opening Outlook, selecting the Inbox folder, then clicking View > Reset View. This restores the folder layout back to its original form. If every folder looks strange, you can press Windows + R and type outlook.exe /cleanviews. That command removes all custom view settings from Outlook.

Another common reason behind layout problems is add-ins. I disabled all COM add-ins from File > Options > Add-ins, restarted Outlook, and noticed immediate improvement. Resetting the ribbon settings also helped because too many customizations had cluttered my toolbar.

Unfortunately, my Outlook data file was partially corrupted, which caused repeated crashes and blank folder views. I eventually used the DRS Softech PST Recovery Tool to repair the PST file. The software recovered emails, calendars, contacts, and attachments without affecting the original structure. Since then, Outlook has been working normally again. If Outlook keeps behaving oddly even after resetting the view, checking the PST file condition is definitely worth it.
