Our company recently decided to move from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace because most of our collaboration had already shifted to Google Drive, Docs, and Meet. I was assigned the responsibility of transferring several employee mailboxes, and honestly, I underestimated how complicated the process could become. My first attempt involved the manual IMAP method, but it was incredibly slow, and some folders took hours to synchronize. A few emails even appeared out of order, which made me question whether everything had transferred correctly. My biggest concern was to Migrate Office 365 to Gmail without affecting attachments, folder hierarchy, or email metadata since these records were important for ongoing client communication.
After reading discussions from administrators and IT professionals, I realized many people faced similar issues when handling large mailboxes manually. I eventually decided to try the DRS Softech Office 365 Backup Tool because it offered selective migration, mailbox preview, date filters, and duplicate email handling. What impressed me most was that I didn't need to perform complicated configurations, and the migration progress could be monitored throughout the process. The software maintained the original folder structure and transferred emails exactly as they appeared in Outlook, including attachments and timestamps.
If you're planning an Office 365 to Gmail migration, especially for business users with years of archived emails, I'd definitely recommend testing the migration on a smaller mailbox before moving everything. Spending a little time verifying the results can prevent unnecessary stress later. Has anyone here compared different migration methods or experienced similar challenges while switching platforms?
