Gmail exports often look fine until imported into iCloud, where fields go missing or display incorrectly. This thread focuses on why that happens and how to fix it.

Gmail usually exports contacts in CSV or vCard format but the structure is not always the same as what iCloud expects. Gmail’s CSV uses headers and encoding that iCloud does not recognize and its vCard export sometimes includes fields that iCloud can’t parse. That’s why contacts show up with missing names, broken numbers or jumbled details. The simplest way around this is to convert the Gmail file into a standard vCard format first. A tool like Softaken CSV to vCard Converter lets you convert CSV contacts to VCF properly , keeping all fields intact. With bulk CSV to vCard conversion, even large Gmail lists can be prepared quickly for iCloud and your contacts will display without corruption.
