Hey everyone,
I just finished a OneDrive to OneDrive migration for my organization, and since I saw a lot of people here struggling with it, I thought I’d share my experience.
At first, I was worried about the usual problems:
- Duplicate files appearing during transfer
- Permissions breaking (shared files losing access)
- Large data sets taking forever due to throttling
- Users facing downtime while the migration was going on
Initially, I considered going with the manual/native methods Microsoft suggests, but honestly, it looked too time-consuming and risky for the size of our data (we had over half a TB to move). That’s when I tried the Shoviv OneDrive to OneDrive Migration Tool.
Here’s what I noticed using it:
- The incremental migration feature was a lifesaver. If the process stopped, it just resumed from where it left off, no duplicates.
- Permissions were preserved, so no hassle with reassigning access rights.
- It handled batch migration really well, even for huge data sets.
- Most importantly, there was almost zero downtime for end users.
Honestly, it took a lot of the stress out of the whole process. Instead of babysitting the migration, I could just monitor it through logs and reports.
So, if anyone here is planning a OneDrive to OneDrive migration, my advice would be: don’t rely only on manual methods, especially if you’re dealing with a big environment. A proper tool like Shoviv can save both time and headaches.
Has anyone else here used third-party tools for OneDrive migration? How was your experience?
Hi everyone, I recently dug into MailsDaddy’s OneDrive Tenant Migration service and was relieved to see they place a lot of emphasis on data integrity and version history preservation. According to their site, version history (major/minor), author info, timestamps, and meta-properties like created/modified by are kept intact during migration. For organizations that heavily collaborate on documents, this is crucial — losing earlier versions or author-metadata can cause confusion. Also, they preserve shared files, nested folder structure, and permissions.
